Interview with Mahmoud, Dutch Passion

April, 2022.

AWC team:

Today we are talking with the Autoflower World Cup 2022 winner - Dutch Passion!

2st Prize in BEST CBD: CBD Charlotte's Angel

AWC team:

- Tell us a little bit more about the winning strain and tell us why you think it won over others (one answer per one winning strain)

Dutch Passion team:

About the CBD AUTO Charlotte’ angel. It’s a high CBD and low THC strain that we developed. It has a very nice terpene profile and very good production as well . Especially high CBD and low THC content makes it an excellent medical strain. We have only very good feedback on it so yes we think everybody loves it!

AWC team:

- What are your plans for the future? What do you expect from the autoflower industry?

Dutch Passion team:

This is the moment we embrace the autoflowering varieties. They gain popularity quite quickly. The first generation were not as good. They didn’ yield much, the flavor was not good, the effect was not that high. But every generation is improving itself because it can not keep alive from the mother plant and every generation will start again from the seed.

We only pick the best from seeds so they are improvising constantly. We are now at the level when the autowlers are as good as photoperiodic so they can compete with the traditional varieties. Ducth Passion started a project last year with a professional breeder from the tomato industry that is developing genetics in a laboratory as well.

At the moment we are cleaning all of our line so we would like to have a homozygous product that we can offer the uniform product that you can grow straight from seed and still have very high stable quality. I think this is how the future will be like.

AWC team:

- What would you like to say to the people who didn't win this time? What advice can you give to the home growers?

Dutch Passion team:

Don’t worry! Don't be sad! Just take a new seed and try again! Autoflowers perform best when you give it as much light as possible. So probably 18 hours of light, you could even do 24 hours but I think it better to give it a resting period. And feed them like traditional variety counting from week 4 or 5, that would be the 1 week of growth with photoperiods. Just look at the plant and she will tell you what she needs!
