Fast Buds Wins AWC 2026 Best Breeder: Inside the Community Vote

The AWC 2026 Best Breeder award went to a public vote, and Fast Buds took it. The seedbank pulled 2,970 votes from the community, enough to hold off Royal Queen Seeds and take the title for a second year running.

Here is how the vote broke down and what Fast Buds did on the judging table to earn it.

Fast Buds finished the Best Breeder vote on 2,970, with Royal Queen Seeds close behind on 2,828. That is a margin of just 142 votes at the very top.

After those two, the numbers fall away quickly. Zamnesia Seeds took third with 946, then Sensi Seeds on 713 and Dutch Passion on 264 to round out the top five. Thirty-seven breeders picked up votes in total, so this was a broad field rather than a two- horse race, even if the front two pulled clear.

Most of the Cup is settled by the judges. Judges score entries in the Indica, Sativa, Best New Autoflower, and CBD categories blind on look, smell, and smoke, and the totals decide each podium. Best Breeder is the exception. It is an open public vote, run on the AWC site, where growers and autoflower fans pick the breeding operation they most want to see recognized.

A judged category tells you which single plant performed best on the day. The breeder vote is closer to a reputation check: which seedbank the wider community actually rates, grow after grow. It is the same kind of standing that lands names in a Top 5 Best Autoflower Breeders round-up.

The published tally also lists an email count beside each breeder's votes. Fast Buds shows 3,019 emails against its 2,970 votes, and Royal Queen Seeds 2,864 against 2,828. The vote form itself asks each voter to enter an email "for confirmation," and that email figure sits just above the counted votes for every breeder, which points to an email-confirmed vote rather than an open click-through.

What Put Fast Buds on Top

In the Indica Dominant class, Fast Buds went one-two: Mendo Frost Auto took gold and Gorilla Z Auto took silver, the standout run in the best Indica autoflowers of 2026. In the Sativa Dominant class, Mango Frost Auto landed second on 135 points and Mango Cherry Runtz Auto third on 134, both behind Royal Queen Seeds' Trainwreck Auto. And in Best New Autoflower, GMO Auto rounded off a third podium with a third-place finish.

Beyond those, Fast Buds fielded one of the largest line-ups in the competition. Names like Frostbanger, Guava Sundae, Purple Haze and Lemon Tree all turned up across the Indica, Sativa and New Auto classes.

Line up the podium strains, and it comes to five inside the top three across three different judged categories:

Plenty of breeders can land one trophy strain in a good year. Putting two autos at the top of the same category, then backing it up elsewhere, is the kind of consistency that makes ticking a name on the ballot an easy call for a lot of growers.

Where Other Breeders Landed

Royal Queen Seeds pushed them all the way and actually beat them where it was judged, with Trainwreck Auto topping the Sativa class on 162 points and Gaia F1 Hybrid taking second in Best New Autoflower, a single point off the win. In another year, that judged form might have swung the vote its way too.

Newer names made noise as well: Bud Voyage, a Berlin outfit, won Best New Autoflower, and Ethos Genetics took third in the Indica class. Behind the top two in the vote, Zamnesia Seeds held third on 946, clear of the chasing pack, with Sensi Seeds (713), Dutch Passion (264) and Mephisto Genetics (245) next.

Mephisto is worth a mention beyond the vote: its Guava Fig entry took the Highest THC Lab Test award at 24.5% THC, the top lab number of the 2026 Cup. Here is the wider leaderboard:

A Second Vote in a Row

This is not new territory for Fast Buds. They also won the community-voted Best Breeder title at AWC 2025, so 2026 makes it back-to-back. The public vote has tended to move between a small group of names over the years, with Mephisto Genetics among the past winners before Fast Buds took over.

What changed in 2026 is the weight of results behind the win. Where the earlier title leaned on a strong headline year, this one sits on top of podium finishes in Indica, Sativa, and Best New Autoflower, all scored independently of the public vote. For a community award, that mix of grower loyalty and judged form is about as convincing as it gets.

What's Next

The full category-by-category breakdown, including every judge's score, is on the AWC 2026 results hub. The 2026 edition was the first to run in Berlin after its previous edition at Spannabis in Barcelona, and the next Cup will put the Best Breeder vote up for grabs all over again.
